As we approach our BU UCU Annual General Meeting on Thursday 4 September (13:00, Teams), we are reopening committee nominations for specific vacant roles ( descriptors here) and introducing two new positions based on updated UCU guidance.
We are inviting nominations by noon, Friday 22 August for the following vacant positions:
- Officer Roles
- Treasurer
- Membership & Recruitment Secretary
- Anti-Casualisation Officer (new): To be filled by a member currently in casualised employment or who has been in such employment within the past two years. This post exists to represent casualised staff and support anti-casualisation campaigning within the branch and beyond.
- Committee Roles
- Casework Coordinator
- PDR & Professional Support Rep
- Environmental/Green Rep
- Grade 10+ Rep
- Health & Safety (Mental Health) Rep
- JCNC Secretary
- Pensions Rep
- Union Learning Rep
- Faculty Rep(s)
- School Rep(s)
- Ordinary Committee Members (new): These are general committee roles without a fixed portfolio. If you’d like to be active in the branch but aren’t sure which specific area suits you yet, this is a great way to get involved.
If you are interested in any of these roles, please complete and return the nomination form to our Returning Officer, Moray McAulay, in the UCU Southern Regional Office. His details are on the form.
Important: The version of the nomination form we are sharing is a template and cannot be edited directly. You will need to download a copy to complete and submit.
If you have any motions you wish to propose for the AGM, these must be submitted by Wednesday 21 August. You can find guidance on how to submit a motion and full AGM details on our website: https://ucubournemouth.uk/2025/07/24/2025-26-bu-ucu-agm/
Please also note: A new agenda item has been added to the AGM to approve updated branch rules in line with the national UCU Model Local Rules (2016), which supersede our current 2015 rules. The updated draft will be circulated alongside the motions.
Thanks again for your continued support. We look forward to seeing many of you at the AGM.
In solidarity,
BU UCU Committee
